September Research Brief Takes Part I Look at CCSSE Results

The September 2011 edition of Research & Practice  examines the results of the 2011 Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE), which is conducted every other year during the spring semester.

Questions from the survey are grouped to form five benchmark metrics that are used to assess how an institution is doing in engaging students in a variety of areas. The benchmarks are Active and Collaborative Learning; Student Effort; Academic Challenge; Student-Faculty Interaction; and Support for Learners.

In the 2011 CCSSE, the College saw positive scores for Student Faculty Interaction and Support for Learners, the latter of which has increased year year since spring 2007.
