March Research Brief Updates Work in Developmental Math

The March 2012 edition of Research & Practice provides an update on the College’s work to improve success in developmental math, specifically in Math 010.

In fall 2011, all of the College’s Math 010 courses utilized the Concepts of Numbers approach, resulting in close to 60% success rate — almost 20% higher than that of sections that used the traditional method in spring 2011.

However, while the overall success rate has increased, there is a 20 point gap for African American students enrolled in the course when compared to White and Latino students.
