For the fourth consecutive year, 100 percent of Montgomery County Community College’s 2012 Radiography graduates passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) National Certifying Examination.
A total of 11 students graduated from the College’s Radiography program in May. They are Kim Calhoun, Plymouth Meeting; Jennifer Callahan, Royersford; John Cirillo, Willow Grove; Marjorie Kelley, Schwenksville; Allison Lavella, Perkiomenville; Kelly McCarty, Plymouth Meeting; Katie Mealing; Tessa Piepmeyer, Pottstown; Scott Sampson, Lansdale; Billie Wagner, Chester Springs; and Erica Wilson, Gilbertsville.
Of note, the program’s graduates have a six-year pass rate of over 97 percent, which far exceeds the 75 percent benchmark established by the Joint Review Committee on Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the accrediting agency for the program. Since its inception at MCCC, 93 students graduated from the Radiography program and went on to become ARRT registered radiographers.
The comprehensive ARRT exam covers the entire two-year Radiography curriculum. It is comprised of five sections, including radiation protection; equipment operation and quality control; radiographic procedures, patient care and education; and image production and evaluation.
Students are eligible to take the examination following graduation. Upon passing, the students become Registered Technologists, which enables them to work anywhere in the United States and Puerto Rico.
