SSRT, Parent/Teen Task Force to Hold Straight Talk Workshop

From mood swings to deep depression, some teens can be difficult to comprehend at times.  But understanding their feelings, teaching them some coping skills and providing resources for them will make a difference in helping teens develop healthy outlets for their emotions.

Montgomery County Community College’s Student Support and Referral Team in collaboration with the Montgomery County Teen Parent Task Force invites all teens, parents, guardians, teachers, counselors, healthcare providers and others who work with teens to a free information session, “Straight Talk About Understanding the Moods in Today’s Youth,” on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 7-9 p.m.

The program will be held in Science Center room 214, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell and will also be available via video-conferencing to the College’s West Campus, South Hall room 221, 101 College Drive, Pottstown.  Sign-in and resources tables will be available at 6:30 p.m.

The program features guest speakers Tracy “Tre” Scott, founder of Kick Teen Depression, and his mother, Dana Scott, as well as Abby Grasso, M.S.W., Social Service Liaison, Brooke Glen Behavior Hospital; Eric Smith, Executive Director, Montgomery County Teen Talk Line; and Brett Wells, Operations Director, Greater Norristown Police Athletic League.

To register, call LaRue Emmell at 215-679-3086 or email lemmell2@comcast.net by Oct. 19. Please specify the campus location where you will be attending. In lieu of a registration fee, donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for distribution to a local food bank.
